Peter Luger - Best Steakhouse In America? (Brooklyn, New York)

Image
Peter Luger When I was told the burger at Peter Luger was something worth going to for lunch, I figured it's a good excuse to try their steak as well. Since the burger was only served at lunch, thus I added Peter Luger to my lunch list. Bread Peter Luger Steaksauce Instead of butter, I dip my bread in Peter Luger's famous steak sauce. Fantastic, just wonderful. I think I want to get a bottle of that sauce next time! Luger's Sizzling Bacon Besides the steak, you order the bacon when you eat at Peter Luger, no ifs or buts. The thick cut of bacon was purely divine. I'd go to Peter Luger just to order this! Luger Burger Fries I want to say I loved the burger, but I didn't. It's a damn good burger, especially for something under $10. However, I liked my burgers at Minetta Tavern and Shack Shake a lot more. The fries are pretty unforgettable, but was heightened by the Luger Steaksauce. Steak for One This is why I came to Peter Luger in the first place, for the steak. ...

Minetta Tavern - Black Label Burger, The Experience (New York City)

Image
Minetta Tavern Burgers, whether it's from In N Out (My HS job, wh00t wh00t!!) or La Grande Orange here in Pasadena, I'll always love eating it. When Sam Kim raved about Minetta Tavern and its $26 Black Label Burger, I knew it was a place I had to visit. A few things to note. To get a reservation here was hard as hell. Think Per Se, but harder (at least for us) and Le Bernardin, so my expectation ran high as the visit approached. Also, don't expect ANY lighting in the dining room, or anywhere in the restaurant. It's probably the worst lit dining experience I had, thus I wasn't too pleased with how the pictures turned out. Hey, at the end, it's all about the food, right? Let's go to that! Bread Service As we ordered, bread service with a slab of salted butter was given to our table. The bread was warm and tasty, though I was saving room for the main event. Roasted Bone Marrow - with baguette soldiers and shallot confit In addition to the burgers, my friends ...

Ruth's Chris - US Prime in Canada, eh? (Toronto, ONT)

Image
Entrance for Ruth's Chris After my friends and I landed at Pearson Airport in Toronto, ONT this past May, our minds were to get to our hotel and find some good grub in the city! During the cab ride, we were asked what were we doing in Toronto during the holiday weekend. What holiday?? I guess we had showed up in Toronto during their Victoria Day weekend (a la Memorial day weekend in the States). As a result, most of the businesses were closed for the long weekend, which included our intended destination, Rodney's Oyster House (a place I'll blog about later). Thus, after exploring a bit in the Financial district of Toronto where our hotel was located, we were able to stumble upon Ruth's Chris, an American steakhouse chain that I've actually never had before. Ironic, eh? Bread We were served with some fairly lukewarm bread and butter, not much to write about, but it does its job.
